Front Office Manager
Shelley Hessman is our Front Office Manager. With over 12 years of combined management and leadership experience and over 10 years in healthcare, Shelley prides herself on building professional relationships and partnering with clinicians and staff to improve the overall patient experience in our community.
Shelley grew her way into leadership, working for a Berkshire Hathaway company as both an office manager and assistant sales manager, serving for 13 years across four different states. She learned the value of always keeping customer service at top of mind, while maintaining organized workflows and supporting a successful and driven team.
In 2011, Shelley joined the Patient Access Department at St. Luke’s, where she served for over 10 years, first as a team lead before moving into a supervisor role managing a team of over 25 Patient Access employees in Idaho’s busiest emergency department. Working in a high-intensity critical care environment while still maintaining efficient time-sensitive processes is where she found her passion by helping to drive patient-centered care from a non-clinical standpoint.
During her career at St. Luke’s, Shelley helped stand up and launch one of the first Covid tent testing sites in March of 2020, assisting to fine tune processes that would impact downstream workflows. She took on managing staff at multiple sites in the newly developed Visitor Screener role as the healthcare system implemented new ways to navigate the challenges of the pandemic. She also helped to roll out the SPARC (Suicide Prevention Among Recipients of Care) program in the Meridian hospital to help improve access to follow up care to support the mental health of the patients in our community.
Shelley appreciates being able to do work that combines her compassionate nature with her desire to improve teamwork to get patient-focused results.
Shelley is originally from Iowa and moved to the Treasure Valley in 2005, where she lives with her husband and daughter. She enjoys traveling and watching her daughter work towards earning her black belt in taekwondo.
